Who runs OffshoreWindow
OffshoreWindow is operated by Sam O’Neil. For privacy questions, or to request a copy, correction or permanent deletion of your information, contact samueljamesoneil@gmail.com. We may need to verify that a request comes from the account owner.
Information used by the service
We store your account identifier and display name, projects, work locations, selected vessels, shift times, working-day outcomes, reasons, notes and associated weather information. Login and infrastructure providers also process technical information, such as IP addresses, browser details, session cookies and security logs, to operate and protect the service.
Email and Google sign-in
Clerk manages authentication, email verification, sessions and account recovery. If you choose Google sign-in, Google shares your account identifier and the basic profile information you authorise, such as your name, email address and profile picture, with Clerk to authenticate you. OffshoreWindow does not receive your Google password and does not request access to Gmail messages, Google Drive files or contacts. You can manage the Google connection through your Google account settings.
How information is used
Your records are used to provide your personal workspace, save and restore logs, retrieve vessel and weather information, and estimate weather-day likelihood from the logs in your project. Predictions are estimates. We also store dated prediction history, forecast inputs and calculation versions to compare advance estimates with completed shifts. Recently logged projects may retrieve weather and recalculate in the background while the app is closed. Prediction history is private to the project owner. Projects start private. Owners may send personal invitations, create reusable group invitation links, or separately choose to list a project in Community. Anyone with an active group link can sign in and join as a collaborator; each person uses their own account. Disabling a group link prevents new members joining without removing existing members. A signed-in user who accepts can see project identification, worksite and shift information, predictions, the weather outlook up to 14 days ahead, the project vessel image and its latest reported AIS position. View-only members cannot log or edit. Owners can invite contributors from the same vessel to record their own shifts. Contributors can see and edit only their own logs; their outcomes, shift hours and weather reasons contribute to shared predictions and may be reviewed by the owner. Personal notes remain private. Matching reports count as one operational shift; conflicting reports require owner clarification. Revoking access stops further access and reminders, but previously supplied reports remain in the project history until removed or the project is deleted. Invitation labels, the group link used to join, the accepting account and access dates are stored so the owner can manage and revoke access. We do not sell your personal information or use it for advertising.
Optional Community listings
Only projects explicitly listed by their owner appear in Community. All signed-in users can then search the project name, vessel and area, and view its name, activity, saved worksite coordinates, shift times, operating limits, weather up to 14 days ahead and aggregate predictions. Individual shift logs, personal notes, account and member details, images and dated prediction history are not included. Community access cannot edit a project or record shifts. Owners can remove a listing at any time to stop further Community access; existing private invitations are managed separately. Information already seen or copied cannot be recalled. Only list information you have permission to share.
Services that process information
Cloudflare hosts the app and its database; Clerk provides login services. Vessel searches and identifiers are sent to VesselAPI. Coordinates and dates needed for forecasts or recent historical weather are sent to Open-Meteo. Previously captured weather may be sourced from Stormglass. These feed requests do not include your email, passwords or log notes. Maps and vessel images may load from OpenStreetMap and Wikimedia, which receive the network information needed to deliver them. These providers may process information in countries outside your own under their respective privacy terms.
Optional shift reminders
Your At home / At work choice is saved to your account and applies across your devices. At home pauses notifications and automatic shift check-ins, while keeping your reminder choices for when you return to work. If you enable reminders, we store this browser’s push subscription (delivery address and encryption keys), your selected projects and a record of reminder attempts. We check your saved shift times and whether you have logged your own shift before sending a reminder. Contributors may set personal shift hours without changing project settings. Your browser’s push provider (such as Apple, Google or Mozilla) delivers encrypted notifications. Notification text contains no project names or shift notes. You can turn reminders off per project or for this device in My account. Removing a device subscription removes its preferences and delivery records. Notifications may continue while you are signed out until you turn them off or revoke browser permission.
Cookies and browser storage
The app and its login provider use cookies and browser storage for sign-in, security and session operation. The current app does not add advertising trackers. Blocking essential login cookies may prevent you from signing in.
Retention and deletion
Project records remain stored until removed or until an account-data deletion request is carried out. The app currently has no automatic retention deadline. Deleting a log removes it from active logs and future prediction learning. Owner logs retain a recovery copy in correction history. Deleted contributor reports are retained privately in storage and can be replaced by recording that shift again; contact us for permanent removal. Earlier prediction-history records remain unchanged; deleting the project removes its saved prediction history. For permanent removal of that history or all account data, contact us. Deleting or disconnecting a login identity alone does not necessarily erase the project database. Operational logs and backups can have separate retention periods with our service providers.
Your choices and changes
You can choose email/password instead of Google sign-in and edit your saved records in the app. Contact us to discuss access, correction, export, deletion or any applicable data-protection rights. Avoid entering confidential employer information or other people’s personal information in free-text notes unless you have permission. We will update this notice as the service changes and show the updated date here.
